CLERMONT, Fla. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team continued its strong start to its season, sweeping Dowling College by scores 2-0 and 11-2 on Thursday to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Kelsey Cockrill (Haymarket, Va.) earned her second straight victory for the Owls, fanning eight and allowing just two hits in a complete game win.
In the game two, the Owls hammered out 13 hits in an 11-2 win to earn the doubleheader sweep in a game called after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Alyssa Downs (Seymour, Conn.) had a solo homer and Whitley went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI for Southern.

The Owls return to action Saturday, March 10 for a doubleheader match-up against Molloy College. The games are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
