Gianna Iaquinto Named Northeast 10 Player of the Week

Gianna Iaquinto was named the Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Week as announced by the Northeast 10 Conference on Monday April 20, 2026. This is Iaquinto's first NE10 player of the week selection of her career.
 
Iaquinto transferred to Southern this year after four years at DI Hofstra University. At Hofstra, Iaquinto started 43 games in her three seasons and totaled 23 hits and 10 RBIs. This season for the Owls, Iaquinto is hitting .321 with 36 hits and eight doubles.  Iaquinto currently leads the Owls in triples with five, home runs with four and RBI with 28.
 
This week, Iaquinto had a .364 batting average with three doubles, two triples and three home runs for 11 RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.091. Iaquinto's week featured a 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI performance, which accounted for all of the runs in the Owls 3-1 win against Pace in the final game of their four game set this weekend. Iaquinto had seven RBI and six extra base hits in the Owls three wins this week.
 
Southern Connecticut is back-in-action on Wednesday April 22 when they host Adelphi University for a Northeast 10 conference doubleheader at the Pelz Field with game one starting at 2:30pm.
