RINDGE, N.H. - Senior Elaina Heiple (Cheshire, Conn.) scored two goals but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team lost to Franklin Pierce on Monday, 17-5.

The Owls are now 1-9 overall and 0-7 in Northeast-10 Conference play. FPU improved to 5-3, 3-1 in league play.

The Ravens scored the game's first eight goals before Jessica Shaw (Beverly, Mass.) found the back of the net for the Owls. FPU added four more tallies to make it 12-1, but Erica Sedler (South Berwick, Maine) connected for a marker just before the break to close the gap to 12-2 at intermission.

Heiple would tack on two second half goals, with Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) also finding the back of the net for the Owls.

Lynette Martinez (Stamford, Conn.) stopped 15 shots for the Owls in the contest.

SCSU is back in action on Wednesday for a road game at Assumption.
