Women's Lacrosse To Play Two Games This Week

CONFERENCE PLAY CONTINUES

The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team will play two games this week. The Owls will travel to Franklin Pierce on Monday afternoon. Game time is set for 4. The Owls will then travel to Assumption on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

ALL-TIME VS. FRANKLIN PIERCE
Franklin Pierce leads the all-time series against SCSU, 6-5.

ALL-TIME VS. ASSUMPTION
Assumption leads the all-time series against SCSU, 7-3.

BUSY STRETCH
The Owls are towards the end of a stretch which includes six games in 11 days. The stretch features four away games and just two matches at home.

HEIPLE SET TWO CAREER MARKS
Elaina Heiple now has 29 points on 25 goals and four assists this year. The 29 points and 25 goals are career highs for Heiple, while the four assists matches her previous career-high in that category.

CONTROLLING THE DRAW
Elaina Heiple, Jessica Shaw, and Erica Martino lead the team in draw controls. Heiple leads the way with 34 draw controls. Shaw is a close second with 31 and Martino has 25 draw controls on the year.

GROUNDBALL LEADERS
Jessica Shaw and Erica Martino lead the Owls in groundballs with 28 each. Emily Horan, Lynette Martinez and Emily Tooker all have 18 groundballs on the year.

CAUSING TURNOVERS
Jessica Shaw is the team leader in caused turnovers with 14. Erica Martino has 13 caused turnovers on the year.

HEIPLE'S STRONG WEEK
Elaina Heiple registered eight points against AIC and No. 9 Stonehill. She put together seven goals, including two against No. 9 Stonehill, to go along with one assist.

MARTINEZ SETS NEW CAREER HIGH
Lynette Martinez set a new career-high with 24 saves against SNHU. She tallied a total of 39 saves in the two games against Post and SNHU.

SHAW AND HEIPLE FINDING PRODUCTION
Captain Elaina Heiple and junior Jessica Shaw both contributed nine points in two games against Post and SNHU. Heiple led the Owls with five points (four goals, one assist) against SNHU, while Shaw scored two goals and set up two goals. Heiple added three goals and one assist against Post, while Shaw had four goals and one assist, both contributing to the Owls' first win of the season.

SEDLER MAKING AN IMPACT
Freshman Erica Sedler tallied eight goals in two games against Post and SNHU. She found the back of the net four times in games against both Post and SNHU.

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Owls were selected 13th in the Northeast-10 preseason poll for the 2012 season.

THE CAPTAINS
Elaina Heiple, Jennifer Langlois and Jessica Shaw have been selected as team captains for the 2012 season.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls welcome seven new players to the team this year- Sarah Cebry, Emily Tooker, Felicia Zalik, Sarah Muise, Emily Orser, Erica Sedler and Toni Bocchetta.

ON DECK
The Owls will return to action on Tuesday, April 10 for a home against Le Moyne. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
