Kayla Quinn (Sutton, Mass.) each scored a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team lost to Mansfield on Sunday afternoon, 7-2.
The Owls dropped to 0-2 on the year, while Mansfield improved to 2-0.
Mansfield opened the scoring with a tally just over 23 minutes into play. However, SCSU answered just about four minutes later when Quinn connected for her first collegiate goal.
Bailey McGinnis (Northford, Conn.) recorded an assist.
MU then scored twice before halftime to build a 3-1 lead and then added two more goals early in the second half to create a 5-1 cushion. Cebry knocked in a rebound goal midway through the frame to get within 5-2, but Mansfield added two more goals in a 7-2 final.
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) finished with 10 saves for the Owls.
Southern Connecticut is back in action on Tuesday for a game at Assumption.
