Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) stopped a career-high 21 shots, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 8 nationally ranked Merrimack on Thursday evening in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams.
The Owls are now 3-5 overall, 0-1 in league play. Merrimack is 6-0, 1-0.
Merrimack opened the scoring just 6:44 into the game. The game stayed that way until late in the first half when the Warriors connected with only 4:19 left in the frame.
The visitors added a pair of second half goals to make it a 4-0 final.
Southern Connecticut is back in action on Saturday for a road game at Franklin Pierce.
