WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior
Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) finished with five points, including the game-winning goal with 3:53 remaining, to help the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team claim a 4-3 win over Assumption on Wednesday evening.
SCSU improved to 1-2 on the year with the win, while Assumption is now 0-3.
The game was tied 2-2 at the half before the Owls went ahead just less than seven minutes into the second frame. Senior
Laurie Cockerline (Lopatcong, N.J.) scored off an assist from
Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.).
Assumption evened the score with just over 10 minutes remaining, but Cebry answered with her second of the night in the waning minutes to give the Owls the win.
The Greyhounds struck first only 2:50 into play. Cebry tied the score midway through the first half on an unassisted tally. Assumption netted the next marker to regain the lead before
Bailey McGinnis (Northford, Conn.) tied the game off an assist from Cebry.
