Field Hockey Closes Regular Season With Two Non-Conference Games This Week

THE WEEK AHEAD
Heading into the week, the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team is fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference standings. The the top six make the conference tournament. The Owls are back in action for two non-conference games this week. The Owls face Mercy on Tuesday before heading to Franklin Pierce on Saturday.

ALL-TIME AGAINST MERCY
The all-time series between SCSU and Mercy is 1-0 in favor of the Owls.

ALL-TIME AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCE
The all-time series between SCSU and Franklin Pierce is 15-12 in favor of the Owls.

SENIOR SEND OFF
Prior to the game against Mercy on Tuesday, the team will recognize the accomplishments of its five-member senior class, who over the past four years have played an instrumental role in the Owls' success.  Among these members are Cathlyn Pistolas, Allison Vilardi, Robin Donaldson, Sarah Cebry and Meghan Lahm.

TRIO RANK AMONG NCAA LEADERS
Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Dolloff ranks No. 3 in the NCAA in saves per game (12.5), No. 9 in save percentage with a .763 mark and No. 25 in goals against average (4). Sophomore Anna Marcucilli ranks No. 7 in the NCAA in defensive saves (5). Senior Sarah Cebry ranks No. 8 in goals per game with a .88 mark and No. 10 in points per game with a 2.0 mark.

STANDING AT THE TOP
Senior Sarah Cebry remains at the top spot for Southern Connecticut's career scoring list. She moved past Cathy Cardini, who had 101 career points as an Owl, earlier this year. Cebry has 128 career points coming into this week's play after scoring two goals and one assist at Adelphi.

MATSON ON A ROLL
After scoring two goals at Adelphi, freshman Jaime Matson continued her point scoring streak with nine straight games until it was snapped in the game against Bentley on Saturday.

BRING IT ON
The Owls have faced arguably the most challenging schedule in all of Division II this season, with 10 of their 16 games against nationally ranked opponents.

NETTING # 1
Freshman Kristi Montemurro scored her first collegiate  goal in the game against Shippensburg. Classmate Jaime Matson matched the feat in the first game against AIC.

Seniors Meghan Lahm and Sarah Cebry are serving as captains this fall.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls welcome nine newcomers to the squad for the 2013 season - Jamie Matson, Marita Brothers, Alicia Morgan, Kimberly Driscoll, Meghan Davis, Zoe Fanolis, Vienna Pallisco, Kennedy Farr and Kristi Montemurro.

ANOTHER SEASON IN THE BOOKS
The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team closed the 2012 season with a 8-10 record. The Owls qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

CEBRY CAPTURES ALL-AMERICA HONORS
Junior Sarah Cebry was  selected as an All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association at the conclusion of the season. She was named to the Second-Team after a campaign in which she led all of Division II in goals per game (1.28) and was No. 2 in points per game (2.89). Cebry also finished third in goals with 23 and fourth in points with 52. Along the way, she set new Southern Connecticut single-season records for goals and points. In addition, she also set a new single-game record with five goals, achieved twice during the campaign. Cebry also moved into first place on the SCSU career chart in goals during the year.

OWLS FIGURE PROMINENTLY IN FINAL NCAA STATS
The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey program was well-represented in the final NCAA statistical rankings. Sarah Cebry led the nation in goals per game (1.28), was third in goals with 23 and fourth in points with 52. She was also No. 2 in points per game (2.89). Audrey Dolloff finished the year ranked No. 2 in saves per game (9.50), No. 10 in save percentage (.764) and No. 17 in goals against average. Bailey McGinnis was No. 17 in assists per game (0.39), while Anna Marcucilli was No. 19 in defensive saves (3.0).

DUO COLLECTS ALL-ROOKIE LAURELS
Bailey McGinnis and Audrey Dolloff were named to the Synapse Sports Division II All-Rookie Team at the conclusion of the year.

PAIR SELECTED TO SENIOR ALL-STAR GAME
Seniors Erica Fisher and Randi Schock were selected to participate in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association
North-South Senior All-Star Game.

TRIO NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
Seniors Laurie Cockerline and Paige Donlin, along with junior Sarah Cebry, were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the season. Student-athletes must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, have completed at least one year at their institution and be a starter or key reserve. It marked the second year in a row that Cockerline and Donlin earned the honor.

OWLS EXCEL IN THE CLASSROOM
Twelve members of the squad were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom in 2012-13. Student-athletes must post a 3.0 semester grade point average in order to be eligible for the honor.

SEVEN OWLS HONORED BY NFHCA
Seven members of the squad – Sarah Cebry, Laurie Cockerline, Paige Donlin, Erica Fisher, Marisa McCann, Bailey McGinnis and Cathlyn Pistolas - were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

TEAM HONORED BY NFHCA
For the fifth year in a row, the Owls were recognized with National Academic Team honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The National Academic Team Award recognized those institutions that achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

ON DECK
Depending on the Owls' play this week, the team could be back in action on Nov. 5 for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
