Box Score

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) netted her seventh goal of the year, but the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to No. 5 nationally ranked LIU-Post on Wednesday night.

The Owls are now 2-8, 2-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play on the year. The Pioneers, who were led by four goals from Carlee Dragon, remain undefeated at 10-0, 5-0 in league action.

Dragon opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 11:14 into play before Keliann Margiotta scored just about seven minutes later to push the lead to 2-0. Dragon's second of the night with 8:36 remaining in the half made it 3-0.

The Owls registered their only goal on a long breakout by Jaime Matson (East Hartland, Conn.), who drew the LIU goalie out of the cage before feeding a hustling Cebry on the left wing. Cebry easily connected into an open cage for the marker.

Dragon scored twice more within a stretch of 3:48 midway through the second half to close out the scoring.

Goalie Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) finished with nine saves in the contest.

The Owls are back in action on Friday night for a game at Merrimack.
