Box Score
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Despite a hat trick from Owls' senior
Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.), a goal from Franklin Pierce's Erin Trainor with 6:43 remaining gave the host Ravens a 5-4 win over the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team on Saturday.
The Owls close the regular season at 5-13. They will now wait for the result of tomorrow's Assumption/Saint Anselm game to learn if they earned a spot in this year's Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
Trainor opened the scoring just 3:19 into play to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead. Cebry countered with her first of three just over seven minutes later to tie the score.
FPU regained the lead with just over 15 minutes left in the first half. However, Cebry once again answered with a tying score less than three minutes after the Ravens had taken the lead. The final goal of the first half was scored by Franklin Pierce, a goal by Courtney Kelly with just over 11 minutes in the half.
The Ravens scored only 4:39 into the second half to build a two-goal lead. SCSU responded with two straight goals to knot the game up once again.
Jaime Matson (East Hartland, Conn.) cut the gap to one with a rebound goal before Cebry capped the hat trick off a feed from Matson.
Unfortunately, the Ravens were able to tally the final goal of the afternoon and walk out with a win.
Owls' goalie
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) finished with 21 saves in the contest.
