NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 11 Stonehill on Thursday afternoon, 18-6, in a Northeast-10 Conference contest.
The Owls fall to 1-10 overall and 1-8 in conference play, while the Sky Hawks are now 9-4 overall and 8-0 in conference matches.
Stonehill would take an early 5-0 advantage nine minutes into the game, but the Owls would fight back.
Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) would score the next three of four goals for the Owls to cut Stonehill's lead to 6-4.
However, the Skyhawks would end the half on a 5-0 run and head into the break ahead, 11-4.
The Owls would get two more goals in the second half scored, one by
Jessica Shaw (Beverly, Mass.) and on another goal by Muise. Muise had four on the day giving her 26 for the season.
Emily Orser (Hamden, Conn.) also had a goal for the Owls, giving her 18 on the season.
Goalkeeper
Nora Anderson (Stratford, Conn.) tallied nine saves on the Sky Hawks in the loss.
The Owls will be back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. at home against Mercy.
