NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore
Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) scored a career-high seven goals, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team had its two-game winning streak snapped with a 19-8 loss to Merrimack on Saturday.
The Owls are now 3-11, 1-9 in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Warriors are 4-10, 3-7 in league action.
Muise opened the scoring just under two minutes in, but Merrimack scored the next three to take the lead for good. Muise added another to get within 3-2, but Merrimack scored two in a row before
Emily Orser (Hamden, Conn.) found the back of the net to make it 5-3. After trading goals to push the score to 6-4, Merrimack scored the final three goals of the first half for a 9-4 halftime lead.
Merrimack scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to pull away from the Owls. Muise had four second half goals, but the Warriors went on to the win.
Southern Connecticut is back in action on Tuesday for a road game at LeMoyne.
