DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Freshman Emma Farrel (Cheshire, Conn.) netted the game-winning goal with just 1:30 left in regulation as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team edged Mercy, 1-0, earlier today.

The Owls improved to 2-6 overall, while Mercy dropped to 0-10.

Owls' goalie Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) stopped five shots to earn the shutout and the victory.

SCSU was outshot 12-8 and out cornered, 10-7, in the game, but it was Farrel's second goal of the year that proved to be the difference. Colleen Murphy (Branford, Conn.) assisted on Farrel's goal.

The Owls are back in action on Monday for a road game at LIU-Post.
