TWO GAMES AHEAD
The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team  prepares for two games this week. The Owls entertain No. 7 nationally ranked Adelphi on Tuesday before heading on the road to face Bentley on Saturday.

ALL-TIME VERSUS ADELPHI
The all-time series with Adelphi is even at 4-4.

Bentley holds a 32-5-1 edge in the all-time series with the Owls.

HANGING TOUGH
The Owls played a nationally ranked Stonehill squad to a 1-1 score into the second half before the Skyhawks pulled away for a 6-2 win last time out. Colleen Murphy and Bailey McGinnis scored for the Owls.

OH SO CLOSE
The Owls were less than three minutes from their third win of the year in the contest against AIC. Behind goals from Colleen Murphy and Vienna Pallisco, SCSU held a 2-1 lead over AIC into the closing minutes. However, the Yellow Jackets tied the game late in regulation before winning it in the extra frame.

FARREL EARNS NE-10 HONORS
Emma Farrel was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week on Oct. 13 for her play in the Owls' win over Mercy.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
Emma Farrel scored with just 1:30 remaining to snap a scoreless tie and give the Owls a 1-0 win at Mercy. Colleen Murphy assisted on Farrel's game-winner, while goalie Audrey Dolloff stopped five shots to earn the shutout.

MONTEMURRO DOUBLES THE FUN
Kristi Montemurro notched her second career multiple goal effort with a pair of goals against AIC. Montemurro also notched two goals in last year's win over Mercy.

M AND M DUO PROVIDING SOME PUNCH
Bailey McGinnis (five goals, two assists) and Kristi Montemurro (five goals, one assist) are the leading goal and point producers for the Owls.

DOLLOFF RANKS AMONG NCAA LEADERS
As of the latest NCAA weekly report, Audrey Dolloff was third nationally in Division II with an average of 11.21 saves per contest.

MURPHY RECORDS FIRST AS AN OWL
Colleen Murphy scored her first goal as an Owl in the game against AIC.

FARREL FINDS THE BACK OF THE NET
Freshman Emma Farrel notched her first goal as an Owl in the game against Assumption.

PALLISCO NETS FIRST COLLEGIATE GOAL
Sophomore Vienna Pallisco collected her first goal as an Owl in the game against Franklin Pierce.

OFF TO A GOOD START
The Owls kicked off the 2014 season with a 6-2 win over Mansfield behind a hat trick from Bailey McGinnis. Kristi Montemurro, Lauren Anderson and Whitney Dyer also scored goals for the Owls. The victory was Southern's first against a PSAC school since 2010, when it also defeated Mansfield at Jess Dow Field.

DOLLOFF PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
Junior goalkeeper Audrey Dolloff matched a career-high with 23 saves in the contest against No. 2 Shippensburg. She also turned away 23 shots last year in a game against LIU-Post.

FRESHMEN POST FIRST COLLEGIATE POINTS
Rookies Whitney Dyer (goal) and Emma Farrel (assist) registered their first collegiate points in the win over Mansfield.

PAIR NAMED TO NE-10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Bailey McGinnis and Audrey Dolloff were both selected to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll for their play in the Owls' contests against Mansfield and Shippensburg.

THE CAPTAINS
Head Coach Kelley Frassinelli has announced that juniors Lauren Anderson and Audrey Dolloff will serve as the Owls team captains for the 2014 season.

The Owls welcome seven newcomers to the squad for the 2014 season - Emily Allen, Whitney Dyer, Emma Farrel, Erica Martino, Colleen Murphy, Emma Perry and Ashley Sanzaro.

RECOGNIZING AN OWLS' LEGEND
The season opening tournament was formally named in honor of Dr. Dora Metrelis, who served as the Owls' head field hockey coach from 1961-76 and was a professor at the university from 1961-88. During her time on the sidelines, she guided the Owls to their most successful era in program history and closed her career with a record of 81-31-30. Her teams posted three consecutive undefeated campaigns from 1963-65, with the 1965 team not meriting a goal throughout the entire season.
• Dr. Metrelis also served as a faculty member at SCSU and was a decorated official and instructor. She has been recognized by numerous organizations for her contributions to athletics including: Connecticut AHPERD Certification of Appreciation and Professional Honor Awards, recognition from the Connecticut Field Hockey Coaches Association, honorary membership in the EAPECW and induction into the Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame for her work as an official.

ANOTHER SEASON IN THE BOOKS
The field hockey team qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament in 2013, the second straight post-season appearance for the Owls. The team was also awarded with National Academic Team honors by the NFHCA for the sixth year in a row and had the fifth-highest team GPA among all Division II field hockey programs in the nation.

CEBRY CAPTURES ALL-AMERICA HONORS AGAIN
For the second year in a row, Sarah Cebry was  selected as an All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association at the conclusion of the season. She was named to the Second-Team after a campaign in which she led the Owls in goals (18) and points (40). Both figures were the second-best single-season totals in school history, behind only Cebry's 23 goals and 52 points from the 2012 campaign.

OWLS FIGURE PROMINENTLY IN FINAL NCAA STATS
The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey program was well-represented in the final NCAA statistical rankings.  Audrey Dolloff was No. 3 in saves per game (12.42) and No. 9 in save percentage (.761). Sarah Cebry was No. 7 in goals per game (.95) and No. 8 in points per game (2.11). Anna Marcucilli (Cheshire, Conn.) finished No. 9 in the NCAA in defensive saves (5).

THREE EARN ALL-ECAC HONORS
Three members of the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team – Meghan Lahm, Audrey Dolloff and Jaime Matson – were recognized with year-end honors by the ECAC. Lahm and Dolloff were named All-ECAC, while Matson being named the ECAC Rookie of the Year.

PAIR SELECTED TO SENIOR ALL-STAR GAME
Seniors Sarah Cebry and Meghan Lahm were selected to participate in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association 
North-South Senior All-Star Game. 

DUO NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
Seniors Sarah Cebry and Cathlyn Pistolas were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the season. Student-athletes must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, have completed at least one year at their institution and be a starter or key reserve. 

OWLS EXCEL IN THE CLASSROOM
Seventeen members of the squad were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom in 2013-14. Student-athletes must post a 3.0 semester grade point average in order to be eligible for the honor.

TEN OWLS HONORED BY NFHCA
Ten members of the squad – Lauren Anderson, Sarah Cebry, Robin Donaldson, Kimberly Driscoll, Zoe Fanolis, Kennedy Farr, Marisa McCann, Alicia Morgan, Vienna Pallisco and Cathlyn Pistolas - were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.

TEAM HONORED BY NFHCA
For the sixth year in a row, the Owls were recognized with National Academic Team honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The National Academic Team Award recognized those institutions that achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.

The Owls are back in action on Nov. 12 for a road game against Southern New Hampshire.
