Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's Gina Lirange netted a hat trick, including the game-winning goal 9:09 into overtime, as the Falcons claimed a 3-2 victory over the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team today.
The Owls are now 2-13 overall and 0-8 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Bentley improved to 8-8, 4-5 in league action.
Lirange opened the scoring just over 15 minutes into the game. The Owls quickly answered as
Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.) found the back of the net only 2:08 later to even the score.
Southern went ahead about 10 minutes later on a tally from
Emma Farrel (Cheshire, Conn.). However, Lirange scored just over two minutes later to even the score at 2-2.
The game stayed that way into halftime and throughout the entire second half.
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) turned away a dozen shots for the Owls in the contest.
SCSU is back in action on Wednesday for a road game at Southern New Hampshire.
