Women's Lacrosse Drops Northeast-10 Opener To No. 13 New Haven, 15-5

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) and junior Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) each scored a pair of goals, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-5 decision to No. 13 nationally ranked New Haven on Tuesday.

It was the Northeast-10 Conference opener for the Owls, now 0-2, 0-1 in league action. UNH is 2-0, 1-0.

Cebry opened the scoring just over three minutes in to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. The Chargers countered with six straight goals before Muise cut the gap to 6-2. The teams traded goals before the intermission, with Cebry's second of the day making it 7-3 at the half.

The Chargers put the game out of reach with six straight goals to start the second half. Muise ended the run with her second goal of the game. Two UNH goals were followed by a score from Jennifer McCarthy (Norwalk, Conn.).

Goalie Vanessa Pagano (Wilton, Conn.) had 10 saves for SCSU in the contest.

SCSU is back in action on Saturday for a game at Southern New Hampshire.
