Emily Orser (Hamden, Conn.) and
Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) each tallied a pair of goals, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-8 decision at Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play tonight.
The Owls are now 2-7 overall and 0-6 in NE-10 play. Assumption is 7-3, 5-2.
Assumption scored the first two goals of the game before the Owls answered with a marker from
Emily Horan (South Windsor, Conn.). Another Assumption goal made it 3-1 before Muise and
Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.) scored 19 seconds apart to even the game at 3-3.
However, the Greyhounds scored the next seven goals to take control of the contest. Orser snapped the run with a goal in the final seconds of the opening half to make it 10-4 at the break.
Assumption scored the first five goals after the intermission to pull away for good. The hosts outscored the Owls by an 11-4 margin in the second half. Muise, Orser,
Emily Tooker (Eastport, N.Y.) and
Jennifer McCarthy (Norwalk, Conn.) all scored second half goals for the Owls.
SCSU is back in action on Saturday for a home game against Bentley.
