Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior
Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) scored four goals, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team lost a 19-11 decision to Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday.
The Owls are now 2-8 and 0-7 in NE-10 play. Bentley improved to 4-6 and 3-3 in league action.
The contest was a close affair for the opening 20 minutes, but the Falcons eventually pulled away from the Owls.
Bentley scored the first two goals before
Emily Orser (Hamden, Conn.) tallied her first of two scores to cut the gap to 2-1. The Falcons connected for the next two goals to extend their lead to 4-1 before
Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.) connected for her first of two goals to make it 4-2.
The visitors sandwiched two more goals around a Muise marker to build a 6-3 lead.
Emily Tooker (Eastport, N.Y.) and
Kennedy Sherman (Buchanan, N.Y.) registered the next two goals to make it a one-goal game at 6-5.
However, Bentley scored six of the final seven goals of the first half to make it a 12-6 game at the intermission.
The Owls were able to close the gap to five at 14-9 by the nine minute mark of the second half on goals from Muise (two) and Anderson. The Falcons countered with five straight scores to pull away for good. Orser and
Jennifer McCarthy (Norwalk, Conn.) added goals in the closing minutes for a 19-11 final.

The Owls are back in action on Wednesday for a road game at Stonehill.
