Emma Farrel (Cheshire, Conn.) scored her first collegiate goal as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Assumption on Monday.
The Owls moved to 1-4 with the result, while the Greyhounds are now 2-2.
Maria Beatrice opened the scoring for the visitors just 7:43 into the game. Then, only 5:50 later, Meghan Sullivan connected on a rebound to make it 2-0. Assumption added a goal from Allison Sheahan with six minutes left in the opening stanza to extend its lead to 3-0 at halftime.
Farrel got the Owls on the scoreboard only 65 seconds into the second half when she redirected a bid by
Kristi Montemurro (New Milford, Conn.).
However, Assumption would receive goals from Catie Laraway and Sheahan later in the frame to make it a 5-1 final

Southern Connecticut returns to action on Sept. 30 for a road game at AIC.
