Kristi Montemurro (New Milford, Conn.) netted two goals and classmate
Bailey McGinnis (North Branford, Conn.) handed out a pair of assists in the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team's 6-4 loss to American International on Tuesday.
The Owls are now 1-5 on the year, while AIC is 4-3.
The Yellow Jackets used two goals from Jenna Masionis around an Erica McLean goal to build a 3-0 first half lead. SCSU countered with Montemurro's first of two goals late in the first half off an assist from McGinnis. The hosts held that same 3-1 lead at halftime.
AIC built its lead to 6-1 in the second half after goals from Shea Homer, Emily Kollar and Taylor Ruscillo.
The Owls scored the final three goals of the game.
Emma Farrel (Cheshire, Conn.) connected for her second goal of the year off an assist from
Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.) with exactly 11 minutes left. Montemurro's second score of the day followed just over three minutes later.
Colleen Murphy (Branford, Conn.) tallied her first collegiate marker in the closing minutes off an assist from McGinnis.

Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) stopped 16 shots for the Owls in the game.
