Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Carly Canavan scored her second goal of the game 5:55 into overtime as the Franklin Pierce field hockey team rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat Southern Connecticut State University, 3-2.
The Owls are now 4-8, 3-4 in Northeast-10 play on the year, while the Ravens are 7-5 and 3-4.
A strong first half appeared to have the Owls on their way to a win.
Kristi Montemurro (New Milford, Conn.) netted a pair of unassisted, rebound goals that gave Southern a 2-0 lead at the break.
Canavan cut that deficit in half just 4:54 into the second stanza. Shannon O'Leary tied the game at 2-2 on a penalty stroke goal with 13:28 remaining to force overtime.
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) made 16 saves for the Owls in the contest.
Southern Connecticut returns to action on Wednesday for a home game against LIU-Post.
