Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.) found the back of the net just 4:51 into play and classmate
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) turned away nine shots as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team shut out Southern New Hampshire this evening, 1-0.
The Owls moved to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play. SNHU is 2-8 and 0-5.
Anderson netted her first goal of the year in the opening minutes. She took a deflected pass and stickhandled through the legs of a SNHU defender before lifting a shot over the right shoulder of the Penmen keeper.
SNHU had a chance to tie the game a short while later, but after two saves by Dolloff,
Alicia Morgan (Stafford, Conn.) cleared a ball off the line to keep SCSU ahead. Dolloff had seven of her nine saves in the first half.
Southern Connecticut returns to action on Oct. 7 for a road game against Merrimack.
