Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 24-4 decision to No. 1 nationally ranked Adelphi University on Wednesday night in the Owls' 2015 season opener.
Adelphi improved to 4-0 on the year with the win.
The Panthers held a 17-0 lead at the half and then tacked on the first two goals of the second half. The Owls got on the scoreboard on a marker from
Kennedy Sherman (Buchanan, N.Y.).
Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.) added a goal later in the second half for the Owls before
Carolynn Keal (Southington, Conn.) tacked on a goal.
Taylor Portelinha (Woodbridge, Conn.) assisted on Keal's goal. The points were the first collegiate ones for Keal and Portelinha.
Portelinha scored in the final minutes off an assist from Sherman to make it a 24-4 final.
The Owls are back in action on Saturday for a home game against Saint Anselm.
