Box Score PHILIPPI, W, Va. – Behind a dominant offensive effort that included nine points from
Kennedy Sherman (Buchanan, N.Y.) and six goals each from
Jennifer McCarthy (Norwalk, Conn.) and
Emma Farrel (Cheshire, Conn.), the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team registered a 21-5 victory at Alderson-Broaddus today.
The Owls improved to 1-2 with the win, while the hosts fell to 1-5.
Sherman recorded a career-high nine points (four goals, five assists). Farrel ended with seven points, as she also assisted on a goal. McCarthy added a career-high of her own with the six goals.
McCarthy and Sherman scored the first four goals of the game before Alderson-Broaddus connected for its first goal of the game. Three goals from Farrel, two from McCarthy and one from Sherman padded the advantage to 10-1.
The Owls held a 16-2 lead at halftime and then outscored the Battlers by a 5-3 margin in the second half.
Carolynn Keal (Southington, Conn.) had a goal and two assists in the win.
Lauren Anderson (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Nicole Healey (Milford, Conn.) each scored twice. Taylor Portlelinha (Woodbridge, Conn.) also handed out an assist.

Nora Anderson (Stratford, Conn.) made six saves in the win.
The Owls are back in action on Thursday for a road game at Wheeling Jesuit.
