Three Road Games Ahead For Women's Lacrosse This Week

The Owls will play three road games this week.

HIT THE ROAD
The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team will head to the road for three games this week - against AIC on Tuesday, Post on Thursday and St. Michael's on Saturday.

ALL-TIME VS. AIC
AIC leads the all-time series by a 9-4 margin. 

ALL-TIME VS. POST
The Owls lead the all-time series, 3-0, over Post.

ALL-TIME VS. ST. MICHAEL'S
St. Michael's leads the all-time series by a 14-0 margin.
 
FRESHMEN FARING WELL 
Over the course of the season, freshmen Emma Farrel and Carolynn Keal have led the Owls in the scoring department. Farrel has collected 28 goals, while Keal is right behind with 21.

OWLS ENJOY BALANCED SCORING
Five members of the team - Emma Farrel, Carolynn Keal, Kennedy Sherman, Nicole Healey and Jennifer McCarthy - have at least 20 points after 12 games. Farrel leads with 41, while Keal is close behind with 31.  
 
FARREL TIES SINGLE SEASON ASSIST RECORD
Emma Farrel added two assists against Franklin Pierce, giving her a team-high 13 assists and tying the SCSU single- season record for assists. 

LENDING A HELPING HAND 
Kennedy Sherman and Carolynn Keal trail closely behind with 10 assists. Nicole Healey has also added seven of her own. 

MUISE RETURNS TO ACTION
After Sarah Muise missed the first nine games of the season due to injury, she returned to action last week. Muise is now third in all-time at SCSU career goals with 86 and fourth in points with 99. She is just one point away from 100 all-time.
 
DOANE SCORES FIRST GOAL WITH OWLS
Eliza Doane scored her first goal with the Owls on April 2 against Assumption. 

IT'S BEEN A WHILE
The 21 goals for the Owls against Alderson-Broaddus marked the first time that SCSU had scored 20 in a game since 2012, when it netted 22 in a win over Post.

QUICK DRAW
Carolynn Keal has a team-high 38 draw controls through the first 12 games of the year.
 
GROUNDING IT OUT
Nicole Healey has a team-high 26 groundballs through the first 12 games of the year.

BEST SEASON IN PROGRAM HISTORY
With wins over Bridgeport, Post, Queens and Merrimack, the Owls set a new program record for victories in 2014. The old mark of three had been set on three occasions.

GOOD GROUP BACK
Southern Connecticut has 11 student-athletes returning from last year's team.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls welcome eight newcomers to the team for the 2015 season - Nicole Healey, Ella Akier, Taylor Portelinha, Hailey Prindle-Nelson, Carolynn Keal, Heather Kearns, Alexa Picciuto and Emma Farrel.

THE CAPTAINS
Senior Sarah Muise and sophomore Jennifer McCarthy will serve as team captains for the 2015 season. 

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
Southern Connecticut was selected 12th in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

MCCARTHY NAMED TO ALL ROOKIE TEAM
Jennifer McCarthy was selected for the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team in 2014. She was ranked second on the team in goals (21) and points (25) and led all freshman in both categories. McCarthy also finished second on the team in draw controls with 36.

The Owls are back in action on April 22 against Pace.
