Kya O'Donnell (Cheshire, Conn.) registered her first collegiate goal as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team lost a 7-1 decision to Adelphi earlier tonight.
The Owls are now 1-4 on the year, while Adelphi is 2-2.
The Panthers scored five first half goals, two each from Mary Plotas and Rachel Colvin. Plotas netted the first two, within a span of 2:39, to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead less than 10 minutes in. Colvin then sandwiched her two goals around a tally from Jamie Ahrens.
Plotas capped the hat trick early in the second half before Lena Pollich connected for a 7-0 lead.
O'Donnell closed the scoring in the game with 12:20 left off an assist from
Bailey McGinnis (North Branford, Conn.).
The Owls are back in action on Saturday for a road game at AIC.
