Complete Game Notes as a PDFCONFERENCE PLAY CONTINUESThe Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team is back in action with two games this week. The Owls travel to Adelphi on Tuesday to play the Panthers for the second time in 14 days. On Friday night, the Owls welcome Southern New Hampshire in a 6 p.m. start.
ALL-TIME VERSUS ADELPHIAdelphi leads the all-time series by a 6-4 margin, including a 7-1 win over the Owls back on Sept. 15.
THE LAST MEETING WITH ADELPHIFreshman
Kya O'Donnell registered her first collegiate goal as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team lost a 7-1 decision to Adelphi on Oct. 15.
• The Panthers scored five first half goals, two each from Mary Plotas and Rachel Colvin. Plotas netted the first two, within a span of 2:39, to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead less than 10 minutes in. Colvin then sandwiched her two goals around a tally from Jamie Ahrens.
• Plotas capped the hat trick early in the second half before Lena Pollich connected for a 7-0 lead.
• O'Donnell closed the scoring in the game with 12:20 left off an assist from
Bailey McGinnis.
ALL-TIME VERSUS SNHUThe Owls lead the all-time series, 1-0, on the strength of a 3-2 win in Manchester last year.
THE LAST MEETING WITH ADELPHIEmma Farrel registered her first collegiate hat trick in a first half span of 3:27 as the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team posted a 3-2 win at Southern New Hampshire on Nov. 12, 2014.
• The Penmen opened the scoring with a goal from Kaitlyn Ramsey just under eight minutes into play. SNHU held the lead for most of the first half until the Owls unloaded a quick scoring barrage to take the lead for good.
• Farrel tied the game on a goal that came off a penalty corner.
Bailey McGinnis passed to
Zoe Fanolis in the middle of the circle, who passed to Farrel along the goal line. Farrel then tucked a shot just inside the post to tie the score.
• The Owls took the lead for good just 1:56 later on Farrel's second of the night.
Alicia Morgan fed
Lauren Anderson, who made a pass down low to Farrel for the goal.
• Farrel capped the hat trick just 91 seconds later as she knocked in a feed from Fanolis.
• SNHU added a goal in the closing minutes but the Owls hung on for the one-goal win.

Audrey Dolloff made five saves for the Owls in the win.
LAST TIME OUTAssumption's Taylor Chase scored the only goal of the game with 14:36 remaining in regulation as the visiting Greyhounds edged the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team on Saturday, 1-0.

•The Greyhounds held the play for the better part of the first half and held a 10-2 edge in shots at the half. However, the game was scoreless through the opening stanza.
• The Owls applied some offensive pressure early in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net. Chase's goal was one of nine Assumption shots in the second half, against six for the Owls.

• Southern earned a win in its conference opener for the second time in the last three years.
• For the first time this year, the Owls had separate players score each goals in a contest in which they netted more than a single tally.
Colleen Murphy had three goals in the win over Mansfield, while
Bailey McGinnis had two goals in the loss to Franklin Pierce.
MCGINNIS RECORDS ANOTHER MULTI-GOAL GAMEBailey McGinnis notched the fourth multiple-goal game of her collegiate career with two tallies in the game against Franklin Pierce.
DOLLOFF STARTS STRONGAudrey Dolloff helped the Owls to a season opening split in a pair of games against Mansfield and No. 4 nationally ranked Shippensburg. Dolloff played the first 58:42 of action to earn the win against Mansfield and stopped all three shots she saw in the net. The following day, Dolloff kept the Owls right with the high-powered Raiders, stopping 20 shots in a 2-0 defeat.

Colleen Murphy kicked off the 2015 season in style, scoring her first career hat trick in the win over Mansfield.

TEAM CAPTURES NFHCA ACADEMIC TEAM LAURELSFor the seventh year in a row, the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team was recognized with National Academic Team honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year. In total, the Owls were one of 20 programs at the Division II level to be recognized with this honor.
