Two games are ahead for the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team this week. The Owls open on Wednesday with their final non-conference game of the year at Mercy. From there, the Owls head to New Hampshire for the third time in four weeks to face No. 6 nationally ranked St. Anselm on Saturday.

The Owls' overtime win against LIU-Post was their first victory in extra time since 2011, when they defeated Adelphi, 3-2.

Bailey McGinnis is now tied for fourth in program history with her 19 career assists.
CRAFT, DRISCOLL AMONG NCAA LEADERS
Entering the week,
Brianna Craft was second in Division II in saves per game with an average of 12.0Â per contest.
Kimberly Driscoll was fourth with four defensive saves.
OWLS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN
Thanks to first-half goals from
Vienna Pallisco and
Bailey McGinnis, the Owls defeated Franklin Pierce, 2-1, on Oct. 8. SCSU swept both games from the Ravens by identical 2-1 scores.
FANOLIS LENDS A HAND
Zoe Fanolis had a career-high three assists in the Owls' contest against Merrimack on Oct. 5.
TRIO NETS FIRST GOALS
Emily Stross,
Natalia Prukalski and
Jana Migliaro each registered their first collegiate goals in a span of 3:37 in the contest against Merrimack on Oct. 5.
GETTING DEFENSIVE
Southern Connecticut had five defensive saves in the game against Merrimack on Oct. 5.
Alicia Morgan and
Kimberly Driscoll each tallied two, while
Amanda Oberly added one.
SENIORS LEADING THE WAY
Seniors
Zoe Fanolis and
Bailey McGinnis lead the Owls in scoring this season. Fanolis is tops with 12 points, while McGinnis is right behind with 11. Fanolis has four goals to lead the club in that department (along with
Kya O'Donnell), while McGinnis is tops with five assists.
CRAFT EARNS PAIR OF HONORS
Freshman goalie
Brianna Craft was named as both the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week and the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week for her play in the Owls' wins over Franklin Pierce and Molloy.
O'DONNELL NETS FIRST MULTI-GOAL EFFORT
Kya O'Donnell notched her first two goal performance as an Owl with two goals in the victory over Molloy.

TEAM CAPTURES NFHCA ACADEMIC TEAM LAURELS
For the ninth year in a row, the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team was recognized with National Academic Team honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.Â
