NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In a game that featured four different goal scorers, a three-assist effort from
Zoe Fanolis (Hamden, Conn.) and a 21-save showing from
Brianna Craft (Hamden, Conn.), the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team lost a wild 10-4 decision to Merrimack on Wednesday evening.

SCORING IN BUNCHES…TAKE ONE: Merrimack jumped out to a 5-0 lead at halftime behind two goals from Mary McNeil and one each from Miranda Judd, Nicole Bradley and Rylie Hammond. Hammond then added two goals early in the second half to cap her hat trick and extend the cushion to 7-0.
RALLYING THE TROOPS: The Owls called a timeout after Merrimack's seventh goal and came out with a vengeance, scoring four times in 9:08 to climb back within three at 7-4. During that stretch, Natasha Prukalski (Danbury, Conn.),
Emily Stross (Avon, Conn.) and
Jana Migliaro (Monroe, Conn.) each netted their first goals of the year.
Kya O'Donnell (Cheshire, Conn.) closed the run with her third goal of the season to trim the Owls' deficit.
ONE LAST RUN: Delaney Yule, Taylor Simpson and Hammond each found the back of the net in a span of 3:32 to put the finishing touches on a 10-4 final.
A CAREER NIGHT: Craft turned away a career-high 21 saves in the contest.
