CONFERENCE PLAY CONTINUES
Two Northeast-10 Conference road games await the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team this week. The Owls travel to No. 1 nationally ranked Adelphi on Tuesday evening before venturing to Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon.

QUICK PROGRESS
The Owls needed just seven games in 2016 to match their win total from last year.

LAST TIME OUT
Nicole Healey netted a hat trick as the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team recorded an 8-6 win over St. Leo in non-conference action on Saturday.
Samantha Cozzolino also scored twice for the Owls, while Lauren Anderson, Carolynn Keal and Jennifer McCarthy all recorded a goal apiece for the Owls.
• Goalie Chelsea Callahan turned away seven shots to earn the win.
• It was a game in which the Owls never trailed. Two first half goals from Healey and one from McCarthy gave SCSU a 3-2 lead at the break.
• After a goal from Keal early in the second half, followed by two St. Leo goals, the game was tied at 4-4 with just over 15 minutes left.
• However, the Owls scored the next three goals - from Anderson, Cozzolino and Healey - to build a 7-4 lead. The hosts would score two of the final three goals, but a late goal from Cozzolino would provide enough cushion for the win.

AMONG THE NE-10 LEADERS
Three Owls currently rank among the Northeast-10 Conference statistical leaders. Carolynn Keal is No. 2 in the league in both groundballs and caused turnovers. Nicole Healey ranks third in draw controls, while Chelsea Callahan is fourth in save percentage.

DUO OUT TO A QUICK START
The offensive tandem of Nicole Healey and Samantha Cozzolino has provided a key spark through Southern's first seven games of the year. Healey leads the Owls in goals (16), assists (5) and points (21), while Cozzolino is first among Southern rookies in goals (14), assists (3) and points (17).

POSTING A PROGRAM FIRST
The Owls registered their first shutout in program history on March 17 against Post. Goalie Chelsea Callahan stopped all three shots on net in order to notch the shutout. Southern's previous low for goals allowed was four, set on three occasions.

GRANDE ACCLIMATING QUICKLY
Freshman defender Brianna Grande is second on the team with 11 caused turnovers and third with 16 groundballs this year.

ALL-TIME VS. ADELPHI
Adelphi holds an 11-0 edge in the all-time series between the schools.

THE LAST MEETING WITH ADELPHI
The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 24-4 decision to No. 1 nationally ranked Adelphi University in the Owls' 2015 season opener.
• The Panthers held a 17-0 lead at the half and then tacked on the first two goals of the second half. The Owls got on the scoreboard on a marker from Kennedy Sherman.
Lauren Anderson added a goal later in the second half for the Owls before Carolynn Keal tacked on a goal. Taylor Portelinha assisted on Keal's goal. The points were the first collegiate ones for Keal and Portelinha.
• Portelinha scored in the final minutes off an assist from Sherman to make it a 24-4 final.

ALL-TIME VS. ST. ANSELM
St. Anselm has a 14-0 advantage in the all-time series.

THE LAST MEETING WITH ST. ANSELM
Nicole Healey and Kennedy Sherman each scored twice, while Emma Farrel handed out two assists for the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team in its 19-5 loss to Saint Anselm on March 14, 2015.
• The Hawks scored the first five goals of the game before Sherman cut the gap to 5-1 with 20:06 to play in the opening half. Saint Anselm answered with seven straight goals before Healey connected off a free position shot. The Hawks held a 16-2 lead at halftime.
• Healey and Sherman both scored second half goals. Carolynn Keal also netted a marker for the Owls.
Nora Anderson stopped 10 shots in the contest.

HEALEY NAMED TO NE-10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Nicole Healey was named to the Northeast-10 weekly honor roll on March 21 for her play in the games against Dowling, Post and St. Thomas Aquinas. Healey led Southern with 12 points (nine goals, three assists) during the week.

QUITE A WAY TO FINISH
Nicole Healey capped her hat trick in the opener with the game-winning goal on a free position shot in overtime to give Southern the win.

A STRONG DEBUT
Freshman Alexandra Takacs turned away eight shots to earn the win between the pipes in her collegiate debut against Merrimack.

IN SEASON OPENERS
With the win against Merrimack, the Owls now hold a 2-13 record in season openers. The win was over American International College in 2007.
