OWLS FACE ADELPHI AND SNHU IN WEEK AHEAD
After being on the road for the past nine games, the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team returns home to The Ballpark at SCSU for a Southwest Division showdown against Adelphi University on Tuesday before heading north to Manchester, N.H. to battle No. 6 Southern New Hampshire under the lights beginning at 4 p.m.

At the beginning of the season, Adelphi led the all-time series record 14-11 against Southern Connecticut. Following the three losses to the Panthers earlier this season, the Owls now trail 17-11.

• Adelphi's bullpen has an overall ERA of 4.15.
• T. Santiago and S. Kuhn both rank fifth in the league in strikeouts (55) and saves (3), respectively.
ALL-TIME AGAINST SNHU
At the beginning of the year, SNHU led Southern Connecticut in the all-time series 48-16. Following the earlier loss to the Penmen, Southern Connecticut now trails 49-16.
PREVIOUSLY AGAINST SNHU
Despite holding a 6-1 lead entering the bottom of the eighth, the baseball team was unable to stop Southern New Hampshire from scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th to secure the 7-6 walk-off win on March 18th.Â
SCOUTING SNHU
• The Penmen are currently on a 13 game winning streak and their last loss came back on March 30th against Franklin Pierce.
• As a team, SNHU leads the conference in 13 different categories, including runs (293), RBI (240), on-base percentage (.403) and shutouts (8).Â
• SNHU bullpen ranks second in the league with an ERA of 2.58 as well as ranks first with a .206 batting average against.
• M. Mastroberti leads the league as well as the team with 40 RBI while M. Cruz ranks fourth with a .372 batting average.
• T. Viehoff and J. Walkinshaw leads the conference in both wins (7) and saves (7), respectively.
A QUICK LOOK BACK
Southern Connecticut wrapped up last week with a record of 1-3 after battling New Haven and Saint Rose on the road. The Owls only win came on Saturday in game one against the Golden Knights, 6-4.Â
STAT BREAKDOWN
• As a team, Southern Connecticut went 35-for-136 (.257) at the plate while collecting 14 runs and 14 RBI.
• Southern Connecticut went 5-5 in stolen bases while their opponents went 2-6.
• The opponents posted a .290 batting average, 22 runs and 20 RBI.
• Southern Connecticut's bullpen finished the week with a 2.97 ERA while their opponents had a 3.25 ERA.
STANDOUTS AT THE PLATE
• Jake Paul led the Owls last week with a .462 (6-for-13) batting average as well as posted three runs.
• Jake Lieberman appeared in all four games for the Owls and finished the week with a .412 (7-for-17) batting average, a team-high four runs and three RBI.
• Kyle Hart led the Owls with a team-high four RBI.
RENTAS WITH THE WIN
Freshman
Brandon Rentas picked up the Owls only win of the week as the righty allowed three runs on six hits as well as walked a batter over 6.0 inning. Rentas improves to 2-3 on the year.

The baseball team finished the 2014-15 season with an overall record of 18-19. The Owls were selected to finish first in the Southwest Division preseason poll. Southern Connecticut also ranked as high as No. 8 in the regional polls last season.
