COMING TO A CLOSE
The final two games of the 2017 season are ahead for the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team this week. The Owls travel to AIC on Wednesday night before a home game with Southern New Hampshire on Saturday.

SENIOR SENDOFF
The Owls will recognize their five seniors - Sarah Ciccia, Alyssa Gemmell, Lindsey Luposello, Olivia Murray and Kennedy Sherman - prior to Saturday's game against SNHU.

ALL-TIME VS. AIC
The Yellow Jackets lead the Owls in the all-time series, 10-5.

ALL-TIME VS. SNHU
The Penmen lead the all-time series, 13-1.

LUPOSELLO, SHERMAN IN STRIKING DISTANCE
Seniors Lindsey Luposello and Kennedy Sherman are in the hunt for two individual marks heading into the final week of the season. Luposello needs 13 groundballs to become the SCSU all-time leader in that category. Sherman, meanwhile, needs only two points to reach 100 for her career.

LAST TIME OUT
Junior Nicole Healey netted three goals, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-7 decision to No. 3 nationally ranked LeMoyne on Saturday. In the process, she moved into sole possession of first place as the Owls' career goal scoring leader and now has 116.

HEALEY TAKES THE TOP SPOT...TIMES TWO
Thanks to a four-point day against St. Michael's, Nicole Healey moved into first place on Southern's career scoring list. She surpassed Allison Kownacki, who had 130 points as an Owl. Healey currently has 142 career points.

KEAL DOES THE SAME
Thanks to three caused turnovers versus Pace, junior Carolynn Keal moved past Marissa Ryan in caused turnovers. Keal now has 82 and broke a tie with Ryan, who had 70 in her career.

COZZOLINO REMAINS CONSISTENT
Sophomore Samantha Cozzolino has already surpassed her statistics from a freshman campaign in which she earned NE10 All-Rookie Team honors. Cozzolino, who had 29 points (26 goals, three assists) last year, currently has 35 points (23 goals, 12 assists) this year.

HEALEY HAS A DAY
Junior Nicole Healey tallied five goals in the first half along with three in the second half against Saint Anselm, including the tying goal on a free position attempt with 32 seconds left in regulation.
• The eight goals set a new career-high for Healey and earned her the second-best single-game effort all-time behind Allison Kownacki (9 against AIC on 3/27/07).

KEAL JOINS THE CENTURY CLUB
Carolynn Keal became the sixth player in program history to notch 100 career points with a five-point day against Franklin Pierce.

HEALEY EARNS FOURTH NE10 WEEKLY HONOR
Junior Nicole Healey of the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll for the fourth time this year on April 10. She scored seven points in the Owls' two games during the week against Bentley and St. Michael's.

A FIRST 2-0 START
The Owls jumped out of the gates to a 2-0 start for the first time in program history.

HEALEY JOINS THE 100 POINT CLUB
Nicole Healey became the fifth Owl to join the 100 point club after a six-point performance in a win against Bridgeport, where she registered five goals and one assist.

BIG DAY FOR COZZOLINO
For the second time in her collegiate career, Samantha Cozzolino had four goals and five points in a game in the win over STAC. She also tallied the same stat line in a win over Post last year.

COZZOLINO NAMED TO NE10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Sophomore Samantha Cozzolino of the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll for her play in the Owls' season opening win over St. Thomas Aquinas.
• Cozzolino matched her single-game career-highs with four goals and five points to lead the Owls to a 14-6 win season opening win against St. Thomas Aquinas. She also registered two caused turnovers and a groundball in the contest.

IN SEASON OPENERS
The Owls now hold a 3-13 record in season openers, including wins over Merrimack in 2016 and St. Thomas Aquinas this year.

GOOD GROUP BACK
Southern Connecticut has 15 student-athletes returning from last year's team.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls welcome eight newcomers to the team for the 2017 season - Morgan Hanks, Emily Johnson, Sarah Meza, Jacey Miller, Bridget Morgan, Amanda Murray, Emily Rossini and Kendall Simmons.

THE CAPTAINS
Seniors Lindsey Luposello and Olivia Murray and junior Carolynn Keal will serve as team captains for the 2017 season.

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL

TWO NAMED TO NE10 ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
Samantha Cozzolino and Brianna Grande were both named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team at the conclusion of the 2016 season. Cozzolino led all SCSU rookies in goals (26), assists (3), points (29) and draw controls (38) last year. Grande registered 21 caused turnovers, which was the fifth-best single-season total in school history. She finished second on the team in that department and also was second on the team – and tops among newcomers – with 35 groundballs. She also ranked among the league leaders in caused turnovers.

PAIR NAMED TO IWLCA ZAG SPORTS DIVISION II ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
Lindsey Luposello and Alexa Picciuto were selected to the IWLCA Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. In order to receive this honor, student-athletes must have achieved at least a minimum GPA of 3.5 and maintained at least junior academic standing.
