NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team dropped two conference matchups to Adelphi University, 6-4: 3-1.

Junior Bryanna McIntosh (Cheshire, Conn.) led the Owls today who went 2-for-2 which included a two-run homer against Adelphi. Junior
Victoria Ceballos (Bridgeport, Conn.) went 2-for-7 and scored 2 runs in addition to pitching all seven innings in the second game.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Owls came out hot and scored four unanswered runs in the first five innings. Senior Arianna Medieros (Tewksbury, Mass.) hit a RBI double to bring in senior
Zoe Fanolis (Hamden, Conn.) to open up the score in the third, 1-0. Fanolis reached on an error to bring in freshman
Julia Lener (Danbury, Conn.), 2-0. Ceballos doubled in the fifth to put the Owls in scoring position, then McIntosh pinch hit and went yard to bring in Ceballos to make the score 4-0 going into the sixth. The Panthers scored six unanswered runs in the top of the seventh to end the game one at 6-4.
The Panthers opened up the scoring in the first off a RBI single going up 1-0, and would score a single run in the second as well to make the score 2-0. The Owls would respond with a run of their own in the bottom of the second as Lener was caught in a pickle giving Ceballos the green light to steal home to come within one of the Panthers, 2-1. The Panthers would score once more in the fifth to give them what would prove to be the final score of 3-1.
UP NEXT: The Owls will host Dominican for a doubleheader on Friday first game set to start at 2 p.m.
