NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team split its doubleheader against Dominican College, W, 3-2: L, 8-0.

Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) and junior
BryAnna McIntosh (Chesire, Conn.) led the Owls in the 3-2 victory today, both notched a homerun to push the Owls past the chargers.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Owls found themselves down early in the first after giving up a homer to the chargers, but would bounce back in the third off a Buscetto homerun to tie the game at 1 apiece. Senior
Zoe Fanolis (Hamden, Conn.) singled to bring in Senior Arianna Medieros (Tewksbury, Mass.) from second to give the Owls the lead in the bottom of the fourth, 2-1. McIntosh would homer again for the Owls in the fifth to score what would prove to be the winning run. Senior
Yesenia Evaristo (Bethel, Conn.) pitched a complete game recording six strikeouts and held off a late rally in the top of the seventh from the Chargers to give the Owls the 3-2 decision.
Scoreless until the fourth inning, Dominican would open the scoring with two runs of an error. The Chargers would shut out the owls scoring six more runs as southern used three different pitchers to end the game at 8-0.
UP NEXT: The Owls will head to Merrimack Saturday April 8 and away at Assumption Sunday April 9.
