Box Score

SANTALUCES, Fla. - Junior Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) led the way with three hits and five RBI as the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team held off a late Adelphi surge to take a 10-8 win over the Panthers earlier today. It was the third win in a row for the Owls, who are now 5-3 on their swing through Florida with the final two games scheduled for tomorrow.

RECORDS: SCSU (11-5) | ADELPHI (6-6-1)

KEY PERFORMERS

- Criscuolo recorded a team-high five RBI, went 3-for-4 and scored one run.
- Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) was 2-for-3, scored three runs and added one RBI.
- Samuel Nepiarsky (Orange, Conn.) pitched 6.1 innings for the Owls, struck out one and allowed only three runs for his second win of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SCSU jumped on the board first scoring two in the second inning. The first run of the game came on a wild pitch which allowed Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) to score. Griffin Garabedian (Hamden, Conn.) hit an RBI single to score Mike DeMartino (New Haven, Conn.) and double the Owls lead to 2-0. The Owls added one more in the third when DeMartino hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Lamberti.

- Southern scored four more runs in the sixth to extend its lead to seven. With the bases loaded, Lamberti walked to score DeMartino, 4-0.  Criscuolo then blasted a triple to right center scoring Lamberti, Garabedian and Mike Giordano (Norwalk, Conn.) to complete the Owls four-run inning.

- Adelphi would respond by scoring three in the bottom of the seventh to cut into the Owls lead, 7-3.

- The Owls added three more in the eighth to restore their lead as Criscuolo struck his second triple of the day, scoring Lamberti and Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.). Redahan later singled to bring home Criscuolo to give the Owls a 10-3 lead.

- The Panthers scored one more in the eighth to cut the lead down to six. In the final inning, put four on the board to come within two of the Owls but the late surge would not be enough as Southern nabbed its 11th win of the year.
