THE 2018 SEASON CONCLUDES
For the fifth time in the last six games - and ninth time overall this season - the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team will face a nationally ranked opponent. The Owls close the 2018 season on Wednesday night with a NE10 game at Assumption.

The Greyhounds lead the all-time series with the Owls, 13-3.

SENIOR SENDOFF
The Owls recognized seniors Nicole Healey, Carolynn Keal, Heather Kearns, Hailey Prindle-Nelson and Taylor Portelinha prior to Saturday's game against Merrimack.

LAST TIME OUT
For the second game in a row, the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team was in a deadlock with a nationally ranked team into the second half. Unfortunately, visiting Merrimack, ranked No. 15 in the nation, outscored the Owls bCarolynn Kealin in the second half to claim a 16-9 win on Saturday.
- Carolynn Keal finished with three points (two goals, one assist), including her 100th goal as an Owl.
- Nicole Healey posted a team-high three goals along with a game-high 12 draw controls – the second-highest single-game total in school history.
- Samantha Cozzolino registered a goal and an assist. Hailey Gordon, Stephanie Seymour and Megan Lawlor also scored for the Owls.

HEALEY HITS 200
Senior Nicole Healey scored the 200th point of her collegiate career in the win over Southern New Hampshire.

RECORD SETTING
Already Southern's career leader in assists, senior Carolynn Keal can now add the single-season record to her resume as well. With two helpers in the win over SNHU, she moved into first place on the list and now has 20 on the year.

COZZOLINO CHARGING FORWARD
Junior Samantha Cozzolino has set new career-highs in goals (40) and points (49).

HEALEY LOOKING TO MAKE HER OWN MARK
Senior Nicole Healey needs three draw controls in the regular season finale to become the first Owl to register 100 draw controls in a single-season.

PAIR NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Seniors Nicole Healey and Carolynn Keal were both named were named to the NE10 weekly honor roll for their play in the Owls' two games against AIC and Franklin Pierce.

WELCOME TO THE (CENTURY) CLUB
Junior Samantha Cozzolino became the eighth player in program history to reach the 100-career point club during the Owls' win over AIC on March 28.

WHAT A GRANDE PERFORMANCE
Junior Brianna Grande set a new SCSU single-game record with nine caused turnovers in the contest against AIC, and also finished with 10 groundballs, the second-best single-game mark in school history

MORTON MAKES AN IMPACT
Freshman Laura Morton had a career-high 19 saves in the win over AIC on March 28 and followed that up with 19 stops in the game against Bentley.

HEALEY NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Senior Nicole Healey was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll on March 27 for her play in the Owls' games against Pace and Stonehill.

AMONG THE NE10 LEADERS
Coming into the week, senior Nicole Healey is third in draw controls and eighth in the NE10 in goals. Carolynn Keal is third in caused turnovers, fourth in groundballs and 12th in assists and Laura Morton is second in saves.

COZZOLINO NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Junior Samantha Cozzolino was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll for her play in the Owls' three games during the week of March 12.

COZZOLINO CONTRIBUTES IN A BIG WAY
Junior Samantha Cozzolino had a big week for the Owls during the games in Colorado and at Saint Anselm. She led the Owls with 15 points (13 goals, two assists), tallied 15 groundballs and had a pair of game-winning goals in a 2-1 week for the Owls. She opened with four goals - including the game-winner with 14 seconds left - and six groundballs in a 14-13 win over St. Michael's. The next day, she set a new career-high with six goals - including the game-winner with 5:50 left - and matched a career-high with seven points in a 17-16 win over UC-Colorado Springs. She capped the week with a team-high four points (three goals, one assist) in a loss to St. Anselm.

HEALEY HAS A CAREER NIGHT
Senior Nicole Healey set a new career-high with nine points (six goals, three assists) in the win over UC-Colorado Springs on March 14. Her point total was one off of matching the program single-game record. Allison Kownacki totaled 10 points in a game against AIC on March 27, 2007.

BIG SIX FINDING THE SCORESHEET
Carolynn Kealof Nicole Healey (59 points), Samantha Cozzolino (49 points), Carolynn Keal (45 points), Taylor Portelinha (18 points), Hailey Prindle-Nelson (17 points) and Hailey Gordon (14 points) have accounted for 202 of Southern's 217 points this season.

The win over St. Michael's was the first in program history for the Owls.

The back-to-back one goal wins over St. Michael's and UCCS were first time in program history that the Owls were on the winning end of consecutive one-goal decisions.

KEEPING TABS OF...
• Nicole Healey recorded her seventh career outing as aCarolynn Keal least five goals in the game against NYIT. She then posted her eighth outing with six goals against UCCS, her ninth in the game at Pace, 10th in the game at Franklin Pierce and 11th in the win over SNHU.
• Carolynn Keal posted her fourth career outing as an Owl with at least five points in the game against NYIT, notched her sixth in the game at Stonehill, her seventh in the game at Franklin Pierce and eighth in the win over SNHU.

ON THE SCORESHEET
Freshman Laura Morton made her collegiate debut against NYIT and turned away seven shots. She then notched her first collegiate win in the triumph over St. Michael's.

HEALEY PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
The Owls' leading goal scorer in 2017, Nicole Healey netted a pair of goals in the 2018 season opener against Mercy. Her 47 goals and 59 points are tops on the team thus far.

IN SEASON OPENERS
The Owls hold a 3-14 record in season openers, including a triumph over St. Thomas Aquinas in the 2017 season opener.

Southern Connecticut has 15 student-athletes returning from last year's team.

The Owls welcome six newcomers to the team for the 2018 season – Hailey Gordon, Megan Lawlor, Laura Morton, Kacia Savage, Stephanie Seymour and Alexandra Sportini.

VENDEL TAKES THE REINS
Betsy Vendel has been named the Interim Head Coach of the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team, as announced by Director of Athletics Jay Moran. Vendel is in her third season with tCarolynn Keal the current academic year. During the course of her first two years, the Owls have posted single-season program-record highs for victories in each campaign.

THE CAPTAINS
Seniors Carolynn Keal and Hailey Prindle-Nelson will serve as team captains for the 2018 season. It's the second straight year that Keal will serve in this role.

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
Southern Connecticut was selected 14th in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

HEALEY EARNS ALL-CONFERENCE LAURELS
Nicole Healey was recognized with All-Conference laurels by the NE10 in 2017. She enjoyed an outstanding campaign, one in which she led the Owls in goals (47), points (55) and draw controls (80). Her 80 draw controls were a SCSU single-season record, while her 47 goals were a career-high. She also led the NE10 in draw controls and was seventh in goals, while also finishing 16th in points en route to a Third-Team selection.

TRIO NAMED TO IWLCA ZAG SPORTS DIVISION II ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
Heather Kearns, Lindsey Luposello and Hailey Prindle-Nelson were selected to the IWLCA Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. In order to receive this honor, student-athletes must have achieved at least a minimum GPA of 3.5 and maintained at least junior academic standing.

PLENTY OF FIREPOWER COMING BACK
The Owls return their top three scorers from Carolynn KealNicole Healey (55 points), Samantha Cozzolino (44 points) and Carolynn Keal (25 points), and four of the top five inclusive of Taylor Portelinha (21 points). In allCarolynn Keal-percent of its scoring from a year ago coming back in 2018.
