The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team will kick off the 2019 SCSU Homecoming festivities Friday, Oct. 18 when they welcome the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University to Jess Dow Field for a "Battle of the Birds" matchup at 3 p.m.

  • SCSU fell to Pace, 2-1 at Finnerty Field in Pleasantville, N.Y. on Oct. 15.
  • With her sixth save of the game, which occurred in the second quarter, Craft broke the NCAA DII career saves record when she recorded her 861st career save. Craft made 12 totals saves during the game, while junior Karley Welles (Newington, Conn.) scored the lone goal and collected two shots for the Owls. Junior Jessica Maier (Enfield, Conn.) assisted on Welles' goal and added five shots on goal.
 
Notes
  • Brianna Craft's 12 saves against Pace breaks the NCAA Division II field hockey career saves record previously set by Heather Long of Mansfield University between 2000-03 when she had 860. Craft sits at 867 career saves with five games remaining in the 2019 regular season.
  • Karley Welles has now scored in back-to-back games for Southern Connecticut and leads the team in goals this season with four.
  • Jessica Maier has tallied three-or-more shots in three-consecutive games. 
  • SCSU collected its second highest penalty corners total with 12 against Pace. Their current season-high is 13 against Mercy on Oct. 9.

Owls In The NE10
  • Brianna Craft is first in the conference in saves with 141 on the season, 22 more saves than New Haven's Natalie Shaker, who has 119.
  • Craft is also fourth in the NE10 in save percentage with .815.
