BACK TO WORK
After a three-week hiatus, the Southern Connecticut softball squad head to the Sunshine state for a five-game stint. The Owls opened the trip with two back-to-back losses against Dominican and Shepherd University but will look to bounce back in their remaining three games against Bemidji and Truman State on Monday, March 11, before facing Rollins College in their last outing of their spring break trip on Wednesday, March 13.

Bemidji owns the all-time record with SCSU, 1-0.

ALL-TIME AGAINST TRUMAN STATE
Truman holds the all-time record with Southern Connecticut, 1-0.

Rollins holds the all-time series with the Owls, 5-0.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Southern Connecticut fell to Shepherd University, 5-2 in Clermont, Fla. on March 10.
  • Jacqueline Dumont went 2-for-2 with one RBI, while Alexa Bacoulis collected a hit and scored off Dumont's single to left field in the second inning.
  • Junior Sara Buscetto notched an RBI triple in the seventh inning that scored Cailey Botteon, who went 2-for-3 against Shepherd.
  • Madison Feshler and Kailey Westington split time in the circle as Feshler pitched three innings with one strikeout, while Westington pitched the remaining four innings collecting two strikeouts.

LENER, DEROSA EARN NE10 WEEKLY HONORS
Junior Julia Lener and freshman Liz DeRosa earned a spot on the Feb. 18 NE10 weekly honor roll for their play during their trip to Myrtle Beach. Lener went 7-for-15 for the Owls in four games this past weekend. She notched four RBI, two doubles and scored four runs, while sporting a .600 slugging percentage and a .467 hitting percentage. DeRosa opened her collegiate career with a .462 slugging percentage and .308 percentage, while adding five RBI, two doubles, two runs and two stolen bases in the Owls opening weekend. 

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Sara Buscetto - Led the team in hits (39), runs scored (29), RBI (20) and stolen bases (13)
Jazmyn Martinez - Led the team in games started (19), wins (6), complete games (11), innings pitched (127.1) and strikeouts (78).
 
FESHLER, BUSCETTO TABBED AS 2019 CAPTAINS
Senior Madison Feshler (Middletown, Conn.) and junior Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) have been chosen to lead the 2019 softball squad, as announced by head coach Jillian Rispoli.
 
IN THE NE10 PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Southern Connecticut State University softball team has been selected to finish fifth in the Southwest Division of the NE10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASON
The Southern Connecticut State University softball team finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 11-31.
