Southern Connecticut baseball's game against the College of Saint Rose, which was rescheduled previously and slated to be played on Monday, Apr. 22, has been postponed until Wednesday, May 1 at 3:30 p.m. at The Ballpark at SCSU. The Owls will host American International on Tuesday, Apr. 23 and Adelphi on Wednesday, Apr. 24.

THE SERIES AGAINST AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
  • Southern and AIC met this past weekend, with the Owls dropping a 4-1 decision in the first game before bouncing back with a 16-7 win in the second game.
  • Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.) was 2-for-4 with a run scored in each game, while he also stroked a triple to lead-off the nightcap.
  • Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) drove in Palmer with the first game's only run before going 3-for-5 with two doubles, four stolen bases and four runs scored in the second half of the twin bill.
  • Connor Redahan(Greenwich, Conn.) was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and four runs scored in the second game while DeMartino and Mac Finnegan (Old Saybrook, Conn.) both drove in three runs.
  • On the mound, Jared Henry (West Stockbridge, Mass.) picked up the win in relief in the second game after holding AIC scoreless on two hits while striking out six over 3 1/3.
  • Joe Nemchek (Simsbury, Conn.) got the start in the second game where he recorded the first seven outs by strikeout. He gave up four runs – three earned – on three hits while striking out nine over 3 2/3 before giving the ball to Henry.
  • Ronnie Rossomando (Stratford, Conn.) was lights-out for seven innings, holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless on one hit while striking out 10 in the first game before AIC was able to get to the Owls' bullpen.

THE SERIES AGAINST ADELPHI

  • The Owls lost both games against Adelphi this season including a 7-2 loss at home on Mar. 27 followed by an 8-3 loss in Garden City, N.Y. on Apr. 10.
  • On Mar. 27, DeMartino was 2-for-4 with a run scored while Palmer was 2-for-5 for the afternoon.
  • On Apr. 10, Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) hit his team-leading third home run of the season while John Spoto (Stamford, Conn.) and Palmer each drove in a run. On the mound, Tommy Hughes (Newington, Conn.) pitched two scoreless, hitless innings while striking out two batters in relief.

LAMBERTI LEADS
  • Senior Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) had an incredible week for the Owls as Southern posted a 2-1 record against NE10SW opponents.
  • Against New Haven in a 17-0 win, Lamberti was 4-for-6 with two triples, a double, 8 RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored.
  • He followed with another RBI that counted for the Owls' only run in a 4-1 loss to AIC before posting a 3-for-5 showing with two doubles, four runs scored as well as four stolen bases in a 16-7 win against the Yellow Jackets in the nightcap.
  • Lamberti's eight RBI were the most in a game since Ryan Geffert against Bridgeport in 2010.
  • For the year, Lamberti is hitting .331 (49-148) with two home runs, a team-leading 33 runs batted in as well as a team-high 31 runs scored with 12 doubles, three triples and 17 stolen bases.
  • Lamberti is also slugging a team-high .493 with a .412 on-base percentage.

TIKI TIME
  • In his last outing Quantique White (New London, Conn.) hurled a complete-game, two-hit shutout in the Owl's 17-0 route of New Haven.
  • White was masterful as he faced two batters over the minimum and struck out six, while walking one and allowing just four baserunners for the afternoon, none of which reached second base.
  • The Owls' closer, White has saved 15 games in his four-year career including four this season, before getting the spot-start against the Chargers.
  • It was White's first win as a starter of his career and his first win since Mar. 13, 2017.
  • For the year, White is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA and a team-best four saves to date.

PALMER HEATING UP
  • With four hits in the Owls doubleheader against AIC, senior captain JIm Palmer pushed his team-leading hit total to 51, giving him a career-best.
  • Palmer has been on a tear for the month of April and also pushed his hitting streak to a team-leading nine games in which he is hitting .461 (18-39) with 10 runs scored.
  • For the year, Palmer is hitting a team-high .340 (51-150) with 11 doubles, 30 runs scored and 30 bases as well as a .427 slugging percentage and a .420 on-base percentage.

O'TOOLE TIME

  • Cameron O'Toole posted his fifth multiple-hit game in his last six outings with a 2-for-6 showing in the second game, in which he also drove in a run. He's now 11 for his last 28 (.392) with nine runs scored in his last six games.
  • For the year, O'Toole is hitting .321 (34-106) with 16 RBI, 25 runs scored and a team-leading .426 on-base percentage.

REDMAN

  • Connor Redahan is enjoying a break-out season in which he is hitting .317 (46-145) with 16 doubles, 24 RBI and 29 runs scored with a .462 slugging percentage and a .402 on-base percentage.
  • Redahan is second on the team with 13 multiple-hit games and also had a team-best 16-game hitting streak to start the season.

THE CRISCO KID

  • Tyler Criscuolo saw his 15-game hitting streak come to an end in the first game against AIC on Saturday, but started another one in the second game.
  • He did, however, reach base in both games to run his streak of reaching base safely to 21 games.
  • Criscuolo is hitting .415 (34-82) with three home runs, 28 RBI and 23 runs scored as well as a .622 slugging percentage and a .515 on-base percentage.
  • As Criscuolo missed 15 games due to an injury, his stats do not meet NCAA minimuns in which batters must appear in 75% of a team's games.
