The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team opens the 2019 season at the Delta Hotel Fall Classic hosted by fellow NE10 opponent, Saint Michael's College. The Owls will face No. 7 nationally-ranked Kutztown on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. before facing Mansfield University on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m.

- SCSU was picked to finish 14th in the Northeast 10 Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
- Head coach Kelley Frassinelli announced that grad student, Jana Migliaro, senior Brianna Craft and junior Jessica Maier will serve as captains for the 2019 season.
- The Owls return Chloe Knight, who was tied for first during the 2018 with a team-best three goals, while Karley Welles scored twice and assisted on another for five points. Maier, Megan Habakangas and Brianna Craft all return to the Owls' core that played the majority of minutes on the turf.
- In goal, Craft returns to the Owls lineup after playing all but 188 minutes in the cage a year ago.
- Six newcomers enter the fold for the Owls: Haille Cash, Alina Calderone, Abigail Kellerman, Kaitlyn Bourque, Bella Migliaro and Janelle Ward.
