SCSU Field Hockey Picked 12th In NE10 Preseason Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University field hockey was picked to finish 12th in the 2022 Northeast 10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the NE10 on Tuesday, August 16.

First-time NE10 Champion Assumption earned the most votes for the top spot with 10, while Saint Anselm took the two spot, while earning four first place votes. Bentley, Adelphi, and Pace rounded out the remaining spots in the top five. Following them was New Haven, Southern New Hampshire, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint Michael's, American International, and Franklin Pierce. The Owls came in the 12-spot, while Mercy and Molloy finished out the poll in the 13 and 14 spots, respectively.

Last year, Megan Habakangas and Alyssa Haskins earned postseason honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as Scholars of Distinction, while the squad was lauded with the NFHCA Division II National Academic Team award. Megan Habakangas, Alyssa Haskins, Julia Schaff, Grace Conselyea, Brianna Caffrey, Kiley Jackson, and Brianna Shaw also earned their way onto the NFHCA academic list.

Southern opens the 2022 season on the road against Mansfield University in a neutral site matchup at host Kutztown University.
