Southern Connecticut baseball will travel to Worcester, Mass. on Wednesday, Mar. 29 to take on Assumption University at 3 p.m. The Owls enter the game winners in their last four games and stand at 15-5 overall while Assumption will host Southern Connecticut with a record of 7-14 on the year.

Southern is coming off a 7-5 win against AIC on Tuesday, Mar. 28. Nick Guarino (New Haven, Conn.) won his sixth-straight start after a brilliant six-inning performance against AIC. Guarino gave up seven hits while striking out seven and gave up a solo home run for the only run against him for the day. Mike Ferrett (Hamden, Conn.) was 3-for-5 with three RBI while Andrew Eng (Ridgewood, N.J.) drove in two runs. Billy Sullivan (Village Cottage, N.Y.) was 2-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored.
 
The Owls vs. Assumption
Southern and Assumption met previously on Tuesday, Mar. 21 in New Haven with the Owls taking a 12-2 decision at The Ballpark at SCSU. In that game, Nick Guarino (New Haven, Conn.) was masterful over six innings on the mound, holding the Greyhounds to a single, unearned run, while giving up just three hits and striking out eight. At the plate, Andrew Eng (Ridgewood, N.J.) was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three runs scored while Connor Goggin (Prospect, Conn.) was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run. Chad Fedeli (Monroe, Conn.) drove in a pair of runs while Derrick Jagello (Naugatuck, Conn.) was 1-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored.
 
Owls Notes
  • After a season-opening loss to Lynn, Guarino has been undefeated in six-straight starts. IN his last three, he has given up four earned runs over 18 2/3 for a 1.99 ERA while striking out 22. In his last two outings, Guarino has allowed one earned run over 12 innings with 15 strikeouts.
  • For the year, he is 6-1 with a 2.59 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings pitched.
  • After a 5-for-6 day against AIC in his last game, Sullivan has now reached base in 10-straight plate appearances against the Yellow Jackets to the tune of 7-for-8 with three walks while totaling five RBI and seven runs scored.
  • Sullivan also leads the team with 27 runs scored and 30 hits.
  • Ferrett has also feasted on the Yellow Jackets in his last two games as he's posted back-to-back three-hit, three-RBI games. In his last two games, both against AIC, he is 6-for-10 with six RBI and four runs scored.
  • Ferrett is currently on a five-game hitting streak. Over his last four games, he is 10-for-19 with seven RBI and seven runs scored. He's also reached base in 17-straight games – the most in the Owls' lineup.
  • In his last two games, Colin Mason is 6-for-10 with five RBI and four runs scored against AIC. Mason boasts a 10-game hitting streak in which he is hitting .405 (18-44) with 12 RBI and nine runs scored. Mason has also reached base in 16-straight games.
  • Jack Drewry recorded a two-hit afternoon against AIC. Drewry has reached base safely in 11-straight games.
  • Eng's two-RBI game gives him a team-high 29 for the season.
