SCSU Softball Drops Double Header To Saint Anslem

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SCSU Softball Drops a Doubleheader to Saint Anslem, 4-2, and 10-2. The pair of losses brings the Owls record to 11-17 on the season with a conference record of 5-9.
 
Madison Prior would start in the circle for the Owls in game one. Saint Anslem would strike first with a run in the top of the second. Nadia Cestari would match the run with an RBI double scoring Faith Barbieri.
 
The Hawks would score an additional three unanswered runs in the fourth and the fifth inning bringing the score to 4-1. The Owls would score an additional run in the bottom of the seventh with a RBI single up the middle from Emily Lange but would not be able to close the gap any farther, finishing with a final score of 4-2 in game one.
 
Saint Anslem would carry that momentum into game two capitalizing on errors early on. The Hawks would score their first run in the top of the first with Ava Caputo scoring on an Owls wild pitch. In the bottom half of the inning Rachel Miller would hit an RBI single that would score Emily Lange.
 
Saint Anslem would pull away in the third inning scoring three runs to give them the 4-1 lead. Rachel Miller would once again answer the bell in the bottom half hitting another RBI single, scoring Gabby Festa.
 
The Owls bats would slow up with Saint Anslem scoring another run in the fourth bringing the game to 5-1. It would fall apart for the Owls in the sixth inning with the Hawks scoring five unearned runs and bringing the final score to 10-2 in the six inning game.
 
The Owls next matchup will be on the road at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY on Wednesday, April 17th at 2:30 PM.
