Belle Smith sets SCSU Record in the Discus at the James Barber/Jack Maloney Invitational

NEW BRITAIN / NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Men's Outdoor Track & Field standout Belle Smith broke the SCSU record in the Discus with a throw of 45.18m at the James Barber/Jack Maloney Invitational, hosted by Southern. The Owls also competed at Central Connecticut State University's Blue Devil Invitational.

Belle Smith set the SCSU Record in the Discus Throw, throwing 45.18m (148-02). That broke the previous record of 43.84m that was set in 1987 by Tanya Sutton. Her throw ranks 46th in Division II this season. Darla Jagrosse placed third in the event with a personal best throw of 40.70m (133-06), and Sydney Dolbier placed sixth at 33.54m (111-00).

Belle Smith, Celine Bozukluian, and Sydney Dolbier all PRd in the Hammer Throw, taking home the top three spots. Smith threw 53.17m (174-05), which is the #36 throw in all of Division II. Bozukluian threw 49.08m (174-05), and Dolbier threw 44.36m (145-06).

Darla Jagrosse led the Owls with a second place finish in the Shot Put, throwing 13.04m (42-09.50). Smith placed second at 12.98m (42-07.00), and Kayla Johnson finished fifth with a mark of 12.31m (40-04.75).

Deja Fitzpatrick-Bell PRd in the Long Jump, placing sixth at 5.66m (18-07.00). Delaney Speed landed in 10th at 5.40m (17-08.75), and Uliana Pokutnia had a personal-best jump of 5.10m (16-08.75), good for 16th.

Gabriela Dinisoe PRd in her first Pole Vault competition of the season, placing 10th at 3.03m (9-11.25).

Uliana Pokutnia placed fifth in the Triple Jump, jumping 10.68m (35-00.50).

CCSU Blue Devil Invitational

Maddie Hathron placed second in the Pole Vault, clearing 3.35m (11-0.00).

Kisha Francois finished sixth in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.15m ().

The Owls dominated in the 200m Dash, with Hannah Caiola taking home first place with a personal best time of 24.27. That is the top time in the NE10 Kisha Francois followed in second at 25.19, which ranks second in the conference, and Avery Winters rounded out the top three at 25.23, which ranks fourth in the conference. Gillian Penna placed ninth with a time of 26.48, followed by Dardielle Exantus in tenth at 26.71. Ginny Mullen placed 15th with a time of 27.43.

Patrice Mansfield placed third in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.17. Ginny Mullen came in sixth at 15.44, and Gillian Penna placed 11th at 16.11.

Dardielle Exantus came in fourth in the 100m Dash with a time of 12.59.

Julia Mansfield placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:14.99, which is the second fastest time in the NE10 this season. Abigail Bajorek and Erin Sola finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth with respective times of 2:21.11 and 2:21.87.

The Owls' 4x100 Relay team of ____ placed first with a time of 46.49. The Owls finished third overall in a field of 13 teams.

SCSU finishes the Barber/Maloney Invitational tomorrow, where they will celebrate Senior Day at 10:00am.
