SCSU Women's Cross Country Ranked First in NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Southern Connecticut State University Women's Cross Country was picked as the preseason favorites in the Northeast 10 Conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2025 season, as announced by the conference on August 19th.

The Owls will look to secure their second NE10 Cross Country Title after winning for the first time in 2023. In 2024, Southern placed third at the conference championships, then finished second at the NCAA East Regional Championships, qualifying for the 2024 NCAA National Championships. In this season's poll, they received 81 total votes, tied with Bentley. Southern's five first place votes broke the tie, with Bentley receiving four. Southern New Hampshire grabbed the final first place vote and totaled 77 votes to rank third, followed by Saint Anselm (70), Saint Michael's (55), Adelphi (49), Franklin Pierce (44), Assumption (33), Pace (26), and American International (22).

Southern comes into the 2025 season with plenty of firepower despite graduating both of their All-Conference runners from 2024n. 2023 All-NE10 First Team selection Courtney Henchcliffe returns after missing the majority of last season with injury, and Kimberly Moran makes the jump to cross country coming off a record-breaking track season that saw her rank nationally in multiple events. PJ Dauphinias, Abigail Bajorek, Michaela Hogan, and Sarah Johnson round out the returners, with five freshmen set to join the squad.

The Owls are back in action on September 6th when they travel north for the University of Hartford Invitaitonal.
