NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University freshman outside hitter Marisabelle Sias was named the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) Rookie of the Week, the conference announced today.

Sias earned the honor after a standout opening weekend at the Rollins Invitational in Winter Park, Florida, where the Owls went 3-1 to open the 2026 season.

The freshman was a model of efficiency throughout the tournament:

• In SCSU's 3-1 win over Concord on Day One, Sias posted 9 kills on.304 hitting (9-2-23,.391 K%), with 6 digs. Her.304 clip was the best on the team in that match. 
• On Day Two, she totaled 22 kills to finish second on the team for the day, behind Kerrigan Habing's 24. 
• Against Ursuline in a 3-0 sweep, Sias led the Owls with 4 kills in the opening set and 5 kills in the clinching third set as SCSU hit.394 in the frame.

Sias is in her first season with the Owls. The Owls' 2-0 start on opening day was the program's first since 2023.
