Frida Norret Named NE10 Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn.--- Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer standout Frida Norret was named the Northeast 10 conference player of the week for week two as announced by the Northeast 10 on Monday Sept. 7. This is Norret's first career NE10 player of the week award.
 
Norret started her week off strong against Post University on Tuesday Sept. 2 scoring or assisting on four out of the seven Owls' goals, a mark the team has not hit since 2004. Norret got the Owls started setting up teammate Elizabeth Bishop in the 10th minute for the Owls first goal of the game. After another goal by Bishop and goals from Bella LaPerle and Ryleigh Phillips, Norret got involved again as she found Julia Salley for her second assist of the game.
 
After assisting twice, it was time for Norret to find the back of the net as she scored her first goal of the game in the 62nd minute off a feed from Jamie Greenman. In the 66th minute, Norret scored again from just inside the 18 yard box to give the Owls their final goal of the match and a 7-0 win. Norret ended the match with two goals and two assists.
 
On Friday Sept. 4 at Chestnut Hill, Norret picked up right where she left off. The sophomore started off hot as she found Bishop in the third minute for the Owls first goal of the game. In the 28th minute, Norret scored as she put a free kick just past the outstretched arms of the keeper, to give the Owls a 2-0 lead.
 
Norret ended the week in a tie with Bishop for first on the Owls in goals with three and second in the NE10.  Norret's ranks second in the conference in assists with three, second in points with nine and second in shots on goal with 11 as she averages just over 3.5 per game.
 
Southern Connecticut is back in action on Tuesday Sept. 8 as they travel to Lakewood, N.J. to battle Georgian Court University at 5 PM. The Owls return home on Saturday Sept. 12 for their senior day match against St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3 PM.
