NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Tresley Dupont (Tiverton, R.I.) of the men's track and field team and junior Michelle Grecni (Danbury, Conn.) of the women's track and field team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Dupont collected a first-place finish in the hammer throw at the Monmouth Season Opener. He posted a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event with a toss of 58.81 meters.

Grecni placed first in the pole vault at the Monmouth Season Opener with a leap of 3.90 meters over the weekend.

The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
