Southern Connecticut State University Athletics

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Christine Allard (South Windsor, Conn.) of the women’s soccer team and junior Vasilios Grigorakos (Port Washington, N.Y.) of the football team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Allard played a pivotal role anchoring the Owls’ defensive efforts in a 2-0 week. Southern merited just one goal in victories over St. Michael’s (1-0) and Bentley (2-1). With the wins, the Owls clinched the third seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament and will now host Pace on Tuesday night.

Grigorakos registered seven tackles and a career-best two sacks in Southern’s 35-13 win over Bentley on Saturday. The Owls held the Falcons to just 218 yards of total offense in the victory.
