NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the third week in a row, senior Abby Hurlbert (Thomaston, Conn.) of the women's basketball team has been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athlete of the Week.
Hurlbert powered the Owls to a 2-0 week last week with triumphs over Division I Rhode Island and regional foe New York Tech. She averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest while also leading the team in scoring in both games. She had 13 points against URI and NYIT, including the game-winning old-fashioned three-point play, in the closing seconds.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
